RS50- Women Care
During this time of uncertainty RS50 would like to be able to offer many links where you will be able to apply for services, attend food banks and clothing sites in your area.
Everyone at one time or another needs a helping hand,
Helping others: It’s an essential part of humankind, joining in and helping a fellow man or woman. In times of catastrophe, we here at RS50 devote our time in having a mindset of Each1 Encourage1 and helping along the way. Assisting others isn’t restricted to grand motions or times of misfortune. Serving others can be done each and every day. And divergent to what you may have perceived, helping others doesn’t continually have to be a self-sacrificing act. To me and the women of RS50 it helps us to help others. No matter what the motivation, helping others is the significant way to Godly living.
Serve with your whole heart as if serving the Lord not People. Ephesians 6:7

Midtown Assistance Center
Today, the Midtown Assistance Center is located in the Atlanta First United Methodist Church and has the support of eleven congregations as well as the Midtown Alliance, many businesses, foundations, individuals, government entities, and volunteers. Members of its board of directors represent a cross section of the community. Though much as changed at the Midtown Assistance Center since 1986, our mission has remained the same- to provide emergency assistance to the working poor of midtown and downtown Atlanta to prevent homelessness and hunger during periods of crisis.

WHO WE SERVE
Serving the people of Buford, Sugar Hill and Suwanee.
The largest demographic we serve are children. We work with families to help make sure no child goes hungry. We develop relationships with our Seniors challenged with a fixed income vs their medical/prescription rising bills to make sure they have food and necessary physical and emotional needs met. We are a resource to individuals and families who have experienced a job loss, poor health, or a crisis — providing support to help during critical times.

Covington First Food Pantry feeds over a thousand families a year from the generosity of our congregation. Our Food Pantry Chairman, Buster Gregory, searches out the most economical purchases to provide two bags of food per family, per visit, every two months. These bags provide enough food for a family of four for one week. Faithful volunteers come to the church every week and package up the bags of food. Joyce Lancaster handles the schedule of volunteers that work the food pantry desk on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-3:30 pm. The food pantry is funded by generous donations from members of Covington First and other memorials and honoriums given by church members and members of the community.
